Sometimes it s best to let sleeping dogs lie Halcyon Slavic s brush with the hostility of mainstream society has left her scarred and wary As the darkness of winter slowly lifts she only wants to continue her drone sniping in secret But dark places are disappearing all over Budapest and District Three point Five can t be spared Soon they ll be under the same oppressive drone grid Halcyon came to escape from In the midst of the stir a monster of another kind emerges behind Three Point Five s back A canid robot takes the Enclave s eyes from the sky to the streets And before they can be certain what it s come for it s made its first kill The drone snipers are forced to face a new reality Three Point Five is changing Chaos lurks around every corner The police won t lend their aid And the Christians are stalked by their most deadly threat to date They re called hellhounds RainchillHow And why And what And seriously how does she do this to me This book was so intense And so confusing Not in a bad way just in a looking for answers and keep getting questions way And so heart wrenching And so utterly awesome The characterswell let s say some of them I just still want to scoop up and hug while others cough Dorian had me begging out loud on multiple occasions and others have me in this weird limbo where I m not even sure I can find my balance To demonstrate I m pretty sure I can t trust you Wait I think I agree with you here Um okay that was actually sweet and helpful Now you ve got me suspicious again Wait what on earth are you even talking about Hold on now you re coming in on our side What about everything before Can we actually trust you WHAT IS THIS It s all so so complicated and I m already in awe at the author s ability to wrap this whole mess up in some way that makes sense No she hasn t done it yet I m taking it on faith that it is going to happen at some point P But the fact that these books can raise such strong I don t even know whose side you re on feelings in me and still make me love them like I do that really says something And oh my word the action Especially toward the end I could seriously see the whole thing playing out like a movie in front of me which is so not typical for my brain except apparently with these books I can t decide right now whether I m going to be chewing my fingernails waiting for the next one or savoring the chance to get my heart rate back to normal before I m hit with another bombshell like this 3 In the meantime the danger s ramping up the mystery s thicker than ever and even though a certain plot point cleared up a major worry I m deeply afraid there s likely to be some serious fallout from itOne very small note I did notice some editing blips in this book that haven t been typical for the series specifically when it came to several incorrect homophones in rather close proximity But I only mention that to say if you re the kind of person who notices things like that don t let it throw you because the story is seriously wonderful In short another great addition to an amazing series Back to waiting for the next oneContent mentions of deaths including murder people chased and threatened by frightening machines violence including gunplay mentions of injuries wounds and blood not graphic riots and vandalism mentions of profanity no words 9781948966061
