ONE GUT WRETCHING EXPERIENCE Tears and fears Jessica grated the trail paved the way and smooth the path in this heart wretching emotional rollercoaster ride that s just heartbreaking Show stopping drama distress intrigue and suspense ensues in epic proportions keeping you riveted on a razors edge Unrestrained determination swirling a vortex chocked full of happenstance propelling this baby into the eye of the storm breaking it down throwing it into a tailspin with staggering impacts Mastering the ups and downs weaving a cocoon so intricately and tight drawing you deeper into this tangled web until everything else ceases to exist Amazing scenario s that punch dead center with such intensity and skill catapulting this gem with unforseen impacts blowing this baby wide open The characters are authentic solid and strong with depth and on point personalities that balance and blend The scenes are so vividly detailed and descriptive its paints a fantastic backdrop Remarkable job Jessica thanks for sharing this bad boy with us English Let me begin by saying that while I like a fully fleshed out story and characters with some depth to ground my erotica I don t understand authors who include plot points like rape domestic violence serious illness or in this case disability when as it is here it s treated as tragedy for three reasons First the erotic genre is simply too short to do justice to such complex issues Secondly the juxtaposition in tone between the sexy times and serious scenes is too jarring to blend smoothly And finally most authors quite frankly don t represent these topics with the sensitivity and insight they deserve Too often they are used solely for emotional affect without any real analysis of their implications thus they become in the case of rape scenes torture porn defined as a text film book that revels in graphic depictions of violence and gore or in the case of characters with disabilities inspiration porn when you consider someone inspirational solely because they have a disability The first exploits eroticizes and sensationalizes violence against women And the second reduces a person with a disability to an object of pity or a tool that the abled can use to make themselves feel better or in Ashley s case worse. A Matter of Trust kindle paperwhite J Wane s Blindsided until she ended the book with Eve s regaining her sight a cure based narrative that promotes the idea that people with disabilities are not normal and must be fixed In The Bratva s Bride Jane Henry puts several abled slurs simpleton etc into the mouth of her H which are never challenged by any character in the book and which he never apologizes for And Caroyln Faulkner introduces a young girl with Down syndrome in Two True Loves solely for the purpose of turning her widowed mother into of a victim than she already is While I ve heard good things about the Just Breathe Anthology and Kelly Dawson who self identifies as someone with a disability has written with sensitivity on Tourette syndrome in Daddy Takes the Reins the only good aspect of that book too many authorsngage in ableism which posits that the able bodied and neurotypical are normal and the models we should aspire to while the disabled and neurodiverse are less than because they are abnormal. EBook A Matter of trustco Ms Lynne consistently uses abled language throughout the book from all the doctors and nurses who tell Ashley how sorry they are when she receives an autism diagnosis for her son implying that he is a tragedy just for existing to Ashley s concern that her son isn t typical Ever since finding out for sure that he was on the spectrum she found herself wondering which of his mannerisms were normal childhood behavior and which were his autism to Ashley s concern that she herself isn t normal She worries about all this as though there s only one normal way to be a child a definition constructed by society and wants to fix him rather than accept him for who he is even though he seems pretty happy and fulfilled to me Her feelings towards him get lost towards the end of the book when the focus turns to her relationship with her mother so I m unclear how she feels about her son at the end certainly she loves him but I m uncertain whether or not she still views him as a tragedy There are other problems with this book if anyone is still reading this I know it s long It contains at least two incidents of domestic violence I hate to break the news to you Ms Lynne but if one adult spanks another WITHOUT their consent it s domestic violence NOT domestic discipline something that you as an author of a domestic discipline blog should know Rob tells his father he s spanked Ashley without her permission to reveal this thereby betraying her trust after his father encourages him to well commit an act of domestic violence And the ideology is so hopelessly patriarchal and gender essentialist that it s impossible to believe that it was written in the 21st century US As a man you need to take charge of your home And if something is threatening your home and the peace inside it you take the matter into your hands and correct it You understand Rob You ve gotta All the broken marriages and divorces happening today let me tell you why it is it s because men don t know how to stand up and dig their balls out of their ass You remember that Robbie She needs you to be her man She s got enough friends Be the man she needs you to be Rob Finally the book tells us that Rob met Ashley when she was 16 and he was 26 Now that is called statutory rape And now that I ve covered Ms Lynne s problematic treatment of disability glorification of domestic violence and dismissal of pedophilia I m done As in really really done As in I will never in any way shape or form read this author again Usually I add YMMV but there isn t a both sides to how disability should be represented If you think there is I strongly suggest you read this or better yet actually talk to someone with a disability. A matter of trust reaction ETA Given Naming His Price s completely ill advised treatment for eating disorders I guess this book really shouldn t have come as a surprise English I had a hard time with this book I enjoyed the first two but this one just seemed patriarchal There was no discussion of using domestic discipline it was just imposed on Ashley She didn t disagree but that was disconcerting to me Rob discussed his use of discipline with his father which was a betrayal in my mind since Ashley didn t know that his parents practiced Dd I did like the way they portrayed Rob s support of Ashley I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review English HOW GOOD IT FELT TO JUST HOLD ON AND TRUSTThe story is very emotional and in the end I was both laughing and crying at the same time A married couple Rob and Ashley with a son diagnosed with autism and the challenges they face Rob and Ashley met when she was a junior in high school and he was ten years her senior but they clicked They will marry when she is eighteen and things are good but life can be unexpected and with the birth of Nickie and his developmental problems this couple is in serious trouble drifted apart and only sharing a house What will it take to bring them back together Two people who had great chemistry from the time they met now are like strangers in their own home Ashley s life is devoted to Nickie to his therapy and it takes a lot out of her Rob works extra long hours at his shop so that they can pay for Nickie s care While they both see to the needs of their special needs son they have drifted away from each other and the needs that a couple has The story will be about Rob and Ashley finding their way back to each other and how Rob discovers that Ashley needs him to dominate and take control Ms Jessica Lynne opened a door that shows how we as parentsspecially when it involves a child that has special needs as Nikie does gets so involved in providing that care that the needs of the couple sometimes can suffer But it also shows that Rob realizes that Ashley is secretly crying for help that she needs him his guidance and his discipline and control With the death of her father when she was six years old and her mother s bitterness for having to work to support them then diving into her alcohol young Ashley had no one to offer her comfort or guidance Or at least not until she meets Rob The story will involve issues that come to the surface that have pulled them apart and how they must find their way back together Rob realizes that for Ashley he can be both husband and daddy While this story isn t age play it is daddy dom little girl talk It will have some discipline a little bit of BDSM and loving sex scenes I know what you need better than you know yourself You want a Daddy to give you the things you need to hold you when you need love caress you when you re hurting to downright spank you when you misbehave let me be that for you now I think in time you ll find out little one that there are many similarities between a husband and a Daddy It takes Rob laying down some rules making her do things for herself like go to a gym a therapy class and have time away from Nickie while he is in school for a few hours a day It will be Rob scheduling a weekend away for the two of them exploring a new sexual side and showing her that he is in control and there to catch her discipline her and love her And when it comes to his or her family he will stand between them and her and protect her Don t ever say anything like that again I nor my family would ever regret that I married you Don t even think it Everyone has trouble from time to time that s life Nothing will ever make me regret sharing mine with you Best of all this story does have the coveted happily ever after ending and you can t help but want that for Rob and Ashley and their family The story will read as a stand alone English I admit this was a verymotional read and taking care of a special needs child is hard but I couldn t really relate to Ashley I found her to be annoying and a pill English
